Ordinary registered mail

Currency registration
This is ordinary registered mail exclusively used for sending cash. Because the size of the exclusive envelope can contain a ceremonial envelope, it can be used also for sending congratulatory gifts of money.

Simplified registration
The postage is lower compared to ordinary registered mail. The amount of compensation is the amount of actual damage up to 50,000 yen as a general rule.

Registered mail services

Registered mail that could not be delivered during daytime due to absence can be redelivered before about 21:00 if requested by phone by around 17:00 on the same day (*) (free of charge).

Upon usage
- The amount of insured value declared at the time of dispatch is up to 500,000 yen for currency registration and 5 million yen for ordinary registered mail. However, the value more than the amount of cash (market value for other than cash) contained cannot be declared.
- When there is no declaration, the amount of insured value is 10,000 yen for currency registration and 100,000 yen for ordinary registered mail.

Items containing cash (*) must always be sent as currency registration using the currency envelope (sold in 21 yen). (Postal items exceeding the size of the currency envelope sold at the counter can also be sent as currency registration without using the currency envelope.) - Cash means legal-tender money bills and coins in Japan, and does not include foreign money bills and old coins.
- Please always send valuables stipulated in general conditions such as gold, silver and diamond as ordinary registered mail.

- Can coins also be sent as registered currency?
You can send Japanese coins.
You cannot send only foreign coins.
- Should cash vouchers such as gift certificates and prepaid cards be sent as registered currency?
Cash vouchers cannot be sent as registered currency
They can be sent by enclosing together with cash. It will be the total of cash and the value of gift certificates/prepaid cards.Please send as ordinary registered mail or simplified registration under normal conditions.
- Should items including valuables be sent as registered mail?

Although it cannot be applied, the acceptance is recorded similarly to acceptance-recorded mail.
