Royal Mail, the postal operator of the United Kingdom has informed Japan Post that requirements for Electronic Advance Data (EAD) for postal mail addressed to the United Kingdom has been strengthened.
We strongly recommend that postal items that have monetary value, such as books and calendars, be sent alongside EAD via the International Mail My Page Service, even though, in theory, they could be sent as Letters or as Printed Matter. When sending items of monetary value as Letters or Printed Matter with a handwritten label or address, it may result in a return of the sent items due to EAD not being submitted.
Please check here for more information about EAD.
